Opel Meriva Concept
Opel Meriva Concept

The Opel Meriva Concept takes flexibility to new heights with its innovative FlexDoors system, which consists of rear-hinged rear doors that swing open toward the back of the car. As the B-pillars have been purposely retained for passive security reasons, the Meriva Concept's front and rear doors can also be opened independently of each other. Other rear-hinged rear doors already on the market can only be opened after the front door has been opened.
The FlexDoors system enhances comfort and functionality, as the highest point of the roof - just behind the B-pillars - is exactly where the passengers enter and exit the vehicle. This architecture enabled designers to create a very dynamic and unique silhouette, with the arched roof line sloping down to the C-pillars.
Especially eye-catching is the dynamic "wave" in the window line just behind the B-pillars, which provides an excellent all-round view for rear passengers, particularly for children. The body boasts the distinctive "blade" bodyside form, which was a design element of the GTC Coupé and Flextreme. Another feature is the U-shaped windshield, which stretches up and back over the rear passengers' heads - echoing the Astra GTC's panorama windshield. The slim A-pillars and windshield pulled far down ensure plenty of light and a spacious interior atmosphere. Both elements contribute to the outstanding all-round visibility for the occupants.

2011 Opel Corsa OPC updates in Europe

With a very demanding for effective legislation, the European Union starts from 2011 Euro 5, which bars vehicles with emission levels of CO2 above 180 g / km. The approach of the law is forcing local carmakers to adapt all their cars to the new rule. The same goes for sports cars, the largest polluters. This applies to the line of the 2011 Opel Corsa OPC, which was "cleaner" without losing its performance.
According to the German division of General Motors, the Corsa OPC 2011 is up 7.6% more efficient in fuel consumption and makes 9.5% less carbon dioxide in the air over the previous model. The company also claims that the new model has average fuel consumption 13.3 km / l (gasoline) and emits around 172 g / km of CO2. Even revised, turbocharged 1.6-liter engine in the series maintained its 192 bhp and 23.4 Nm of torque (with overboost the number rises to 27 Nm).
Available only in the Old Continent option with manual gearbox, 6 gears, the Corsa OPC, according to data from Opel, meets the test 0-100 km / h in 7S2 and continues until it reaches a top speed of 225

Opel Vivaro e-Concept : Transporter with Ampera drive

A concept is catching on: The drive of the Opel Ampera could be transferred to trucks. At the IAA Commercial Vehicles Show in Hannover (23 to 30 September 2010) presents the brand, the study Vivaro e-Concept.
The study Vivaro e-concept is to have a pure electric range of 100 kilometers. On longer routes, such as intercity buses or shuttle service that will automatically switch to a smaller internal combustion engine that produces a new current generator for the battery. This provides a 111 kilowatt (151 hp) and 370 Nm of electric motor. In this way, the range increases to about 400 kilometers. As the Ampera the Vivaro also e-concept moves constantly with electric drive. The combustion engine only supplies energy - a concept that is also called a serial hybrid. The loading capacity of five cubic meters and 750 kilograms payload to the electric Vivaro make a full fledged van for delivery trips in the city or town near you. Whether it will be for the internal combustion engine to the commercial vehicle diesel and more data does not agree with Opel.
The lithium-ion batteries can be recharged at a household 230-volt outlet. They are mounted under the flat-load floor Vivaro. There, the batteries deliver a low center of gravity for the lowest driving under the influence especially crosswinds, so the manufacturer. Whether the concept will go into series here, I would not, "With the e-Concept Vivaro we want to explore the acceptability of this technology for the visitors," says Opel responsible for commercial vehicles, Chris Gubbey.

New Car >> 2010 Opel GTC Paris Concept
At 4,46 m, GTC Paris, an ideal size for a compact, sporty car, but it still offers room for five passengers. Most of the iconic vehicles were taken from the parties. Many people may be the outline, two or three distinct lines. Same with the new concept car Opel in: In Profile, designers maximum voltage, limiting the number of rows in the GTC Paris. As with tendons, a sprinter, these lines create tension and provide sculptural forms. They serve as a basis for highlighting and surfacing to respond and then the wheels in a very sporting fashion.
The Opel signature blade is introduced in the same direction as first seen in the Insignia – a fine, tense crease along the rocker panel. A second line shoots from the door handle to the rear, emphasizing the vehicle’s dramatic stance by spreading the surfaces to a fine undercut and a broad shoulder. The third line following the silhouette of the roof is finished in finely brushed aluminum that accentuates the window graphic, guiding the eye to the sharply distinct integrated spoiler.
The front is clean yet full of character and features Opel’s typical centerline crease. It is further accented by intense, very slim eagle-eye shaped headlamps acting as parenthesis between the refined chrome emblem bar and the dramatic low trapezoidal grill which hints at its sporty character. Signature LED daytime running lights are outlined with finely crafted chrome inserts that can stand as a piece of sculpture by themselves.
The best of Opel’s compact car technology is brought to its sportiest level on the GTC Paris. The chassis has a special design with an extra-wide stance. It features a compound crank with an Opel-exclusive Watt’s link in the rear, a new, updated execution of the adaptive mechatronic FlexRide suspension and a front electronic limited slip differential. The GTC Paris is planted to the ground with dynamic 21-inch wheels. The powertrain in the GTC Paris is a four-cylinder, 2.0 liter Turbo with direct injection, packing maximum horsepower and torque. It is fitted with Start/Stop technology, proving that drivers can combine high performance with maximum fuel efficiency in urban driving conditions. The transmission is a six-speed manual gearbox.

New Opel Zafira Powered 1,6 Turbo Engine
Opel performed the world debut of its first Compressed Natural Gas compact van with a turbocharger, the Zafira ecoM, at the Bologna motor show. This particular variant of Opel's 7-seater minivan is equipped with a 1.6-liter turbo engine designed to run on either natural gas, bio-methane or any mixture of the two. The unit is provided with special pistons, valves and valve seats, plus separate injection systems for natural gas and gasoline. The engine has an output of 150HP offering the Zafira a top speed of 200 km/h (124 mph) and an average consumption of 5.3 kg of natural gas per 100 km in the MVEG cycle, emitting 144 g/km of CO2.
In gas mode alone, the vehicle can drive up to 370 km (230 miles), while the 14-liter reserve gasoline tank provides an additional range of 150 km (93 miles) for maximum flexibility. Zafira advantage in terms of flexibility and spaciousness are not disturbed in any way, influenced clever underfloor arrangement of four gas tanks around the rear axle. In fact, natural gas vans to give the space even more compact than its predecessor and has a luggage compartment capacity of 645 liters in the five-seat configuration - the largest among the seven-seat compact vans (depending on seating configuration up to a maximum of 1820 liters). As successful predecessor, the Zafira 1.6 CNG has a feature "innovative monovalentplus" concept, allowing maximum efficiency with natural gas operation. Sales of second-generation Zafira CNG start in spring 2006, while orders can be placed mid-September, when prices are announced.
Optimized high security, high-strength steel gas tank and rust free stainless steel pipe-gas safely outside the impact zone. This was also confirmed by ADAC in crash tests conducted by the first Zafira CNG in the spring of 2005. "The tank of gas that is stored in metal containers remain in their original position during both frontal and side collisions, despite body deformation. They therefore optimally protected against damage. The entire gas system stayed tightly closed, also the result of a safety valve that automatically shut in the tank ", said the club car experts, concluded the test results. In addition, the results clearly showed that the risk of fire with natural gas vehicles are not higher than usual. This is also due to the fact that natural gas is much less flammable than gasoline, and in case of a leak is highly unlikely, it soon disappeared. The new Zafira CNG also features the SAFETEC efficient system integrated into the passenger cell, which are reinforced by metal plates ultra-high strength. This ensures Zafira highest rating of five stars for adult passenger safety in Euro NCAP crash investigation.
With its innovative concept, CNG unit has a compression ratio increased, allowing high efficiency, and designed for optimal operation with natural gas, biogas or a mixture of both. Machine has special pistons, valves and valve-seat insert, and a separate injection banks for natural gas and gasoline. In addition, the engine management system optimized for natural gas operation. A 14-liter tank of gas reserves ensures continued mobility on routes without a natural gas filling stations. Switching between operating modes of fuel is through a button on the center console, or happens automatically when the main fuel supply was too low. Thanks to low consumption and low capacity of four natural gas tank 'of 21 kilograms, the Zafira CNG has a total operating range of more than 540 kilometers.
